Bowland Solutions invited to speak at an event for the “Legal Education & Training Group” (LETG) on implementing 360 degree feedback

April 2007

Following their work with a number of law firms, Bowland Solutions were asked to present at a recent ‘Learn & Dine’ session with ‘The Legal Education & Training Group’ (LETG) on the topic of how to implement 360 degree feedback within a firm.

Entitled, “A Lighthearted look at 360 – The Trial & Tribulations”, John Rice, Sales & Marketing Director of Bowland Solutions, introduced their own logical process and some suggested ‘ground rules’ as how best to introduce 360 feedback.

The process starts not unsurprisingly with the need to establish a clear purpose for introducing a 360 process; whether it is for evaluative or development purposes, who the recipients will be, how they should choose respondents and if the process should be completely anonymous.

Beyond this, the format or the report, whether or not to average ratings, communication within the firm, and how to effectively conduct the debrief were all topics of discussion.

John Rice adds “It was great to be invited to present and discuss around the practice of 360 feedback within a firm; many of the fears that naturally emerge for the people who have to potentially implement it, can be overcome by having a logical process and conducting it on-line for sheer efficiency and ease of use for all.”

The Legal Education & Training Group is an association of legal training and development professionals, with some 180 members, representing law firms large and small, City and regional, throughout the UK.
